Twenty-eight feet of painted clay resting on a single heel, on the back of a bird in flight, on a cloud. The whole galli holds its breath at aagman, and every year Kalagandh Arts finds a new way to make it stand.
Seventy-seven years in one laneखेतवाडी ७वी गल्ली
On 15 September 1950 the families of the 7th Galli in Khetwadi brought their first sarvajanik Ganpati home. Khetwadi has a dozen mandals within a few hundred metres of each other, and every year each lane tries to outdo the next. The 7th Galli's answer has been the same for three generations: a murti you have to look up at, and a theme with a story.
The story of the founders, the early years and the people who kept it going is being written with the mandal's seniors. It will appear here, in Marathi first.

Every hoarding, every queue, every rupee of the utsav is run by volunteers from the galli. Names, roles and the one person to call for each thing are being collected from the committee and will appear here.

Ten days, lakhs of visitors, and a murti the whole city comes to see. Placements around the pandal and on this site are available to sponsors and advertisers. The rate card and the person to speak to are being finalised by the committee; until then, message the mandal directly.
